Livingstone advised the Amadys Group, a Belgian portfolio company of Equistone Partners Europe, on the add-on acquisition of Muth Kommunikationstechnik GmbH. The acquisition expands Amadys Group’s market presence and the operating range in Germany. Amadys acquired 100% of the shares in Muth Kommunikationstechnik GmbH.
Both parties have agreed not to disclose details of the transaction.

Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, Amadys is a leading system integrator of end-to-end connectivity solutions for the telecom, infrastructure, energy and data centre markets. Amadys is active in the Benelux, Germany and Denmark as well as now also in Austria and Slovakia and has an annual turnover of more than EUR 200 million. Amadys Group is a provider of passive network component solutions for utility infrastructure and offers a wide range of products – focusing on telecommunications, water, gas and electricity – as well as industrial applications. Funds advised by Equistone, together with management, had acquired Amadys in December 2019.

Muth Kommunikationstechnik GmbH was founded in 1991 in Kabelsketal near Halle and is a specialized wholesaler for electrical and communication technology. Muth offers its customers a wide product portfolio of well-known manufacturers in the field of data and network technology in the copper and fiber optic area for LAN and WAN networks. Of particular importance is the cooperation with the company CommScope, for which Muth is the German logistics partner in the area of the FIST system. With more than 1,900 m2 of storage space, Muth ensures optimal material stocking in order to be able to realize fast delivery times. Together with the extensive product know-how, Muth is a well-known and reliable partner for its customers.

The acquisition of Muth Kommunikationstechnik GmbH reflects another important step for the Amadys Group in terms of its growth strategy. The transaction enables the fast growing Amadys Group to increase its reach in the DACH region and to improve its ability to act as a one-stop-shop provider for its business partners. Muth Kommunikationstechnik will continue to be managed by Mr. Lutz Muth together with the newly appointed Managing Director Manuel Laibl.

“We are delighted to acquire one of the leading suppliers for passive telecom components in Germany”, said Arthur Graevendiek, Managing Director DACH region at Amadys Germany. “Fiber To The Home (FTTH) roll-outs are in an early stage in Germany but growing very fast, so by strengthening our footprint in the DACH region, we will be more than ever able to actively support the future needs of our customers.“

Hein Wilderjans, CEO of the Amadys Group, added: “I would like to welcome the entire team of Muth and express my gratitude for the confidence Mr. Muth has shown in combining his company with the Amadys Group. Furthermore, I would like to express my special thanks to the Livingstone team for another very good and professional support from the initial approach to the successful closing of the transaction.”

“This add-on transaction enables the Amadys Group to position itself even more strongly in the DACH region as a leading player in the field of passive network components and is able to supply customers as a one-stop-shop. I am firmly convinced that both the Amadys Group and Muth Kommunikationstechnik GmbH will strongly benefit from each other in the future through this transaction. We are very pleased to have advised the Amadys management as well as Equistone on another add-on transaction”, stated Christan Grandin, Managing Partner at Livingstone Düsseldorf.

The acquisition of Muth Kommunikationstechnik GmbH marks the 14th successful transaction advised by Livingstone’s telecommunication and infrastructure sector team within 24 months. It further represents the 3rd transaction of Amadys in the DACH region advised by Livingstone.
