Livingstone advised Deutsche Infrastruktur und Netzgesellschaft mbH (DING Group), a portfolio company of the DBAG Expansion Capital Fund (“DBAG ECF”), on the add-on acquisition of Bergert Group (“Bergert” or “The Company”).

Founded by Daniel Bergert in 1998 and based in Wechselburg, Germany, Bergert Group is a construction service provider. The Company specializes in infrastructure construction and civil engineering, mostly underground pipes and cable installation for broadband networks. The group, which consists of three companies, Bergert Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH, BD Solution Network GmbH and BD Koblenzer Tief- und Straßenbau GmbH, employs around 230 people and generated sales of over EUR 25 million in 2020. It offers turnkey solutions to construct underground cable networks, from network planning to installation to documentation. The customer portfolio includes telecommunications providers, including Deutsche Telekom AG, energy suppliers, and municipalities.

Daniel Bergert, Managing Director of Bergert Group, commented: “I am extremely pleased that our group of companies has joined DING Holding. I am excited about the cooperation and the new ways to develop and expand the DING Group further with all parties involved.”

DING Group is a leading general contractor and turnkey provider for the planning and installing telecommunication networks and utilities infrastructure (gas, electricity, water). The group consists of six companies and constructs more than 7,000 kilometers of underground networks and over 40,000 house connections, and 50,000 in-house cablings for FTTx networks all over Germany every year. It has a workforce of more than 1,000 employees and generates sales of over EUR 200 million.

“With Bergert Group, we have found a perfect addition to our group and can now support our customers in eastern Germany even better. We look forward to working with Mr. Bergert and his team to implement a variety of complex projects across different regions together,” explains Christoph Lüthe, Managing Director of DING.

“With Bergert Group, we were able to arrange the sixth acquisition within 18 months for the DING Group alone and to contribute our expertise in the telecommunications sector once again,” added Christian Grandin, Partner at Livingstone Düsseldorf. “We would like to thank the DING management and the main shareholder, Deutsche Beteiligungs AG, whom we have now advised on a total of nine transactions in the broadband expansion segment within 24 months, for their trust in us.”
