Livingstone has advised vitronet Holding GmbH, a portfolio company of the funds advised by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG), on the acquisition of Kabel- und Tiefbau GmbH, a specialist in flush drilling and cable line civil engineering. The parties have agreed not to disclose the key points of the transaction.

Through this transaction, the vitronet Group is further expanding its geographical focus and activity in Baden-Württemberg as a service provider in the field of civil engineering and installation services. Founded in 1988 and now managed by the third generation, the company operates as an established partner for special-purpose associations, municipal utilities and network operators, particularly in the Black Forest region between Baden-Baden and Freiburg.

Kabel- und Tiefbau GmbH is a specialist in fiber optic expansion, cable expansion in wind farms, trenchless cable laying and classic civil engineering work. The company, based in Kehl-Goldscheuer, generated sales of around twelve million euros in fiscal year 2021 with 60 employees. Its service portfolio includes civil engineering work up to soil class 7 in the gas, water, electricity, broadband and renewable energies sectors for private and public customers as well as utility companies. The acquisition strengthens and optimizes the vitronet Group’s existing service portfolio along the value chain and makes it one of the most important industry players in nationwide infrastructure development.

“The Kabel- und Tiefbau team strengthens the activities and presence of the vitronet Group in Baden-Württemberg. Thanks to the proven competencies in civil engineering and installation services as well as the reputation among partners gained over decades, we can now provide our customers in the southwest more capacities for accelerated broadband expansion and also within the field of renewable energies on site. In addition, we are consistently and efficiently expanding our regional business”, explains Christoph Lüthe (Managing Director and CSO of the vitronet Group).

Matthias Krause, Managing Director and CFO of vitronet Group, added: “I would like to thank the Hoffmann family for their trust and welcome the entire Kabel- und Tiefbau GmbH team to vitronet Group. Special thanks also go to the Livingstone sector team for once again providing outstanding support from the initial contact to the successful completion of the transaction.”

The vitronet Group is the leading service provider in the German market for nationwide fiber optic and energy infrastructure expansion. In a long-term expansion strategy, various specialist companies have been integrated along the value chain in recent years. It now comprises 24 operating subsidiaries, including Bergert Group, Clemens Reuschenbach GmbH, Dankers Bohrtechnik GmbH, Energieservice Sandmann GmbH, Horstmann GmbH, HJ Tief- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH, Heinz Lütkemeier GmbH & Co. KG, ISKA Schön GmbH, IMD Group, KronoBau GmbH, Reinhard Rohrbau GmbH, Leinberger Bau GmbH, STG Group, Telewenz GmbH, Triopt Group, vitronet Projekte, vitronet-z, vitronet Tiefbau GmbH, Meyer Strassenbau Group and Diroba GmbH & Co. KG.

“The acquisition of Kabel- und Tiefbau GmbH is the 13th successful transaction within less than 30 months and thus underlines not only the attractiveness but also the enormous potential of the vitronet Group in Germany. We are very pleased to be able to decisively support the growth strategy of vitronet Group in Germany and look forward to further exciting transactions”, adds Johannes Faber, Partner at Livingstone Partners Düsseldorf.
