Interfleet Rolls with SNC-Lavalin
October 2011
Livingstone Partners’ Business Services sector team has advised the shareholders of Interfleet Technology (‘Interfleet’) on the sale of the business to Canadian engineering and construction group SNC-Lavalin.
Derby-based Interfleet was founded in 1996 during the privatisation of the railways in the UK. The company specialises in providing specialist consultancy and technical support regarding rolling stock, railway systems and strategic railway management. During the last 15 years, Interfleet has grown from a single UK office of 90 employees to almost 600 staff in 22 locations, servicing public and private clients around the world from its offices in the UK, Scandinavia, Central Europe, Australasia, India and North America.
Founded in 1911, SNC-Lavalin is one of the leading engineering and construction groups in the world. Headquartered in Montreal and with offices across Canada and in over 35 other countries, the group is currently working in some 100 countries.
David Rollin, Managing Director at Interfleet commented: “We worked with Livingstone Partners for many years leading up to the sale process and we valued their wise counsel on the requisite shape of the business and timing of the sale process. Livingstone did an excellent job – they were highly professional, patient, provided incisive advice and were attentive to detail. The Livingstone team have delivered the Interfleet shareholders an outstanding result.”
Patrick Groarke, Partner at Livingstone Partners said: “I first met the Interfleet team in 2000 and we are delighted to have helped secure a great home for the business and an attractive outcome for all of the shareholders.”
Christopher Jones, Director at Livingstone Partners, added: “In an uncertain market it is hugely satisfying for us to have delivered such a fantastic result for the shareholders of Interfleet and also to have found such a good home for the business. After 15 years as an independent entity, I have no doubt that Interfleet will continue to flourish as part of SNC-Lavalin.”
